Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri was an Indian actress who achieved recognition for her performance in the film Hum Aapke Hin Koun and Beta Saajan. She began her career in the late 1980s, and rose to prominence with her performance in the Tezaab film, where she starred alongside the veteran actor Anil Kapoor. Then, she starred alongside Aamir in Dil. The daughter of a middle class family in Mumbai she began learning to dance from a very young age. When she was in her early years when she started to act as a child actor, the majority of films she created weren't successful. The actress gained fame and was one of India's top film actors. After her wedding ceremony, she took a break from her acting career before returning. More recently she played in a crucial character in the film Gulaab Gang which was about the struggles of women living in India. Dixit has been nominated 15 times to win Filmfare Awards. She won eight of the awards. Padma Shri - the fourth most highly regarded civilian award in India - was given to Dixit. In addition, she has been recognized by the field of social work.
